I never imagined that one day I’d be designing backpacks from scratch and building a brand around them. But here I am—deep into the journey of creating my very first backpack and launching my brand, Maze Fathom.
This post marks the beginning of something bigger, and I want to share the early steps with you.
🎒 Why Backpacks?
Backpacks are more than just gear—they’re daily companions. After years of carrying bags that didn’t quite fit my needs, I decided to create something better. I wanted to design bags that work hard—just like the people who carry them. Practical, durable, stylish. For work, travel, and everything in between.
💡 What I’ve Learned So Far
Starting a brand is exciting—but also chaotic. I’ve learned that:
Every design choice matters. Comfort, material, functionality—it all adds up.
Feedback is gold. Listening to people who use bags daily helped shape my direction.
Prototypes will never be perfect at first—and that’s okay. They’re meant to teach.
✍️ From Sketches to Tech Packs
It started with a pencil and a sketchpad. I drew what I wished I had. Then I translated those sketches into detailed tech packs, working closely with factories to bring my ideas to life.
Seeing my design come to life—even in its roughest form—was surreal. It’s not just a bag. It’s the first chapter of a story I’ve been waiting to tell.
